The infant mortality rate among poor migrant girls and women is extremely high in Phuket. They give birth in local construction camps in unsanitary conditions without any medical assistance.
The center in Phuket Town accommodates poor girls and women, giving them a safe and clean environment throughout their pregnancy, and delivery and seeing them through to post-natal care. Periodically, up to 15 girls stay at any given time.
The infant mortality rate among poor migrant girls and women in Phuket is alarmingly high. Many give birth in unsanitary conditions, lacking access to medical assistance, within local construction camps.
At the Home for Hope in Phuket Town, we offer a safe and clean environment for poor girls and women throughout their pregnancy, delivery, and post-natal care. Our aim is to reduce the high infant mortality rate among migrant workers in Phuket.
