Migrant Worker Outreach
Outreach: Helping Migrants in Phuket
Welcome to the Outreach program, a dedicated initiative aimed at providing assistance and support to migrants in Phuket who have fallen victim to human trafficking and face challenging circumstances.
These individuals have endured unimaginable traumas, including physical and sexual abuse, within inhumane conditions. Our mission is to offer care, support, counseling, and education to empower them to rebuild their lives and ultimately return to their home countries.

Overall Objective
Our overarching objective is to provide outreach education, medical services, and social support to victims of human trafficking, HIV, and AIDS. By addressing their immediate needs and providing a comprehensive support system, we aim to help these victims heal, regain their strength, and reintegrate into society.
We deliver help through two core projects:
1. Mobile Health Clinic: There is a desperate need for accessible medical services in the rural migrant worker camps surrounding Phuket. Many individuals in these camps lack regular access to modern healthcare due to their remote locations.
Our mobile health clinic addresses this gap by delivering medical services directly to the camps on a scheduled basis. Our services include comprehensive exams, pre-and post-natal care, lab testing, mammographic screening, dental treatments, minor surgeries, and more. We also focus on preventative care, providing dental and medical check-ups, immunizations, hygiene supplies, and essential health education.
The mobility of our clinic enables us to reach underserved populations and offer vital care that would otherwise be inaccessible to them. By providing healthcare services, we aim to demonstrate our genuine concern for the well-being of these individuals and improve their overall quality of life.
2. Pregnancy Outreach: Safe – Secure – Legal – Care: The Good Shepherd Sisters offer a safe and secure environment for young and destitute migrant women through our Pregnancy Outreach program. Managed from the Home for Hope (Topland) in Phuket, this program provides comprehensive care, legal guidance, and education for responsible pregnancy planning.
Our services include health care support through Thai Government Hospitals or Health Clinics, education on birth control and adoption alternatives, as well as pre-and post-natal infant care. We work towards ensuring that mothers and children have legal status through valid work permits and birth certificates.
By providing these essential services, we aim to empower young mothers and eliminate the challenges associated with undocumented or unregistered births. We believe in the symbiotic cooperation between our dedicated staff, volunteers, NGOs, and community-based organizations to achieve our shared goals.
Success Factors:
- Access to comprehensive health care services for Burmese migrant workers and children through Thai Government Hospitals or Health Clinics.
- Education for young women on birth control, adoption alternatives, and pre-and post-natal infant care.
- Legalized status of mothers and children through valid work permits and birth certificates.
- Collaborative efforts between our staff, volunteers, NGOs, and CBOs to effectively support and empower the migrant community.
