Our Aim
Our overall objective is to provide a literacy center that offers Burmese children an education opportunity complementary to what they would receive in Myanmar. Our aim is to empower them to return to their home country as productive members of society.
Watch the video below to learn more about the project and the impact it has on the lives community
History
Our center's history dates back to 2010 when the original Bang Jo school was established by the Rghmonya Labour Union – Operation Learning Center Projects in Ranong.
At the request of parents residing in the construction worker camps in Bang Jo, Thalang area, a Burmese Learning Center was created to provide equivalent education to that which their children would receive in their home country.
The school began with thirty students and two teachers, offering a curriculum that includes English, Math, Social Studies, Dance, History, Science, and Burmese Reading and Writing.
In June 2014, the St. Euphrasia Learning Center, now known as the St. Euphrasia BanYa Literacy and Learning Center, was established in a rental facility to accommodate over 60 students with four teachers.
By September 19, 2016, more than 100 students, aged between 4 and 14, were moved to the new St. Euphrasia BanYa Literacy Center. The student population is approximately evenly split between girls and boys.
